Get Solar Power As Cheaply As You Can

Solar Roof Panels

When you are converting to solar power one important thin is that you will probably need solar roof tiles.

There are lots of affordable options to convert home to solar power with solar roof panels as solar power technology can supply for several different things.  Do It Yourself is becoming an ever more popular option as it is a much cheaper option.   Solar home electricity options are available to provide energy for appliances at home and green water heating provides hot water options for your laundry and things like cooking, showers and cleaning.  When planning your model solar house you should think about which solar power choice is most efficient, and cost effective in your position.  When you design it yourself, you have many more options.

Basically a passive solar home makes use of the natural environment to accomplish big savings in energy use.  It makes use of construction materials and design to store the sun’s heat during winter months for warmth and cut off the heat from the sun during summer months as cooling.  There are several techniques that can be used in your solar energy home.   First is indirect gain, involving an attached Trombe wall which gathers heat and spreads it throughout the home by the use of fans.  Secondly direct gain,  radiant heat from sunlight going straight into your living area and being absorbed in furniture, flooring etc.  This is normally used when you have south facing windows.  The third method is thermal mass, materials such as brick or stone that store and collect heat. Lastly passive cooling that generally means over hangs for south-facing windows to cut out the sun through the summer for cooling the house.

Another feature you can design with solar roof panels when you convert home to solar power is the use of solar home electricity.  Solar electricity is generated when photovoltaic cells are used to absorb the rays of the sun and convert it into usable electricity.  The power supplied by solar panels must be converted to DC (household power) by using an inverter.  Solar electricity can be used to supplement metered electric already coming into a home or, by using a bank of batteries, it can be also used as the only source of electricity for your house.  If you intend to use the second, it is best that owners have a generator available for backup power.

A very important thing to plan in your planning is solar water heating.  You can design a closed loop system, if where you live tends not to have real cold weather which causes freezingis not very liable to freezing.  These systems use tubes filled with water that are directly heated by the sun.  An open loop system uses a liquid similar to anti-freeze to collect the sun’s heat and then uses that heated liquid to heat household water by means of a heat exchanger.

Regardless of which path you take toward an alternative power system, energy efficiency is the most important attribute to a money saving solar home operation.  Energy efficiency reduces the need for power.  If you use solar roof tiles, higher insulation levels, more energy efficient windows,  appliance and lighting than is used by normal builders, you will already be saving your family a lot of power so therefore money too.  It is very difficult to do this though when converting your existing home to a solar house with solar roof tiles, therefore make any changes that you can in the efficiency of your existing system and adapt other solar practices to convert home to solar power.

  1. I think solar roof panels is the best idea for a house that also want to genrate its own free electricity, more over it will also be helpful in saving the environment too. Thanks for posting.

  2. PV cells come in a variety of shapes and colours, from grey "solar tiles" that look like roof tiles to panels and transparent cells that you can use on

  3. A solar panel roof mount system can lower your electric bill to literally $ 5.00 by producing your solar energy!

I love how solar paneled homes are eco-friendly and also save money in your pocket. I haven't looked into a DIY installation, but if it's possible, I'm all for it since it's cheaper.

  5. I have thought about solar roof panels before. Are they pretty conspicuous?

  6. Jerome says:

It depends how you look at them. They can be seen on your roof but can be made to blend in nicely.

There was an office building that I passed and they were remodeling it to become solar powered. I think it's a great idea for energy saving and eco-friendly, so I hope more businesses will catch on the trend!

Thanx for the info, and my neighbor were just preparing to do some research aboutsolae panels. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more from this post..

  9. [...] asked about renewable energy, most people think about how to make solar electricity with solar roof panels. Generating electricity using solar energy from the sun is a technology that everyone knows about. [...]

Solar panels are a good choice for roofing. I like it because it is environment friendly, and we can reduce the money we spend on electricity bills.

  11. Tim from Free Solar says:

The environmental positives from solar energy are great plus the savings you can make each year make it worthwhile…especially when cost of of energy sources are going up!!!

  12. Noel Addison says:

More new houses are built with solar roofing over time, while old houses are starting to make adjustment. Solar roof is actually a wise decision for homeowners because they look good and can save you considerably in electricity bills in long term. In wider perspective, solar roof contributes a lot to keep the Earth a healthy place to live.

  13. I’ve heard of solar roof panels and I know that DIY ones are all the rage right now – are they pretty difficult to put up, though?

  14. James says:

Solar energy is the best way to limit our use of fossil fuels to produce electricity.
